PUNK WITCH Performances at 100% VROUW / 100% FEMALE, Zaandam and Alkmaar,
Netherlands, October 2019
Punk Witch stages a gallery occupation with live bondage and punk songs at PLAY Room Gallery, Zaandam, Netherlands as part of the 100% VROUW Teaser Exhibition. It is a comment on how the gallery system usually works with the artist displaying their work by permission, and sometimes paying high fees or commission. Also on female stereotypes with the Witch using bondage to her own ends…
Punk Witch also stages a peaceful street protest – a Global punk street party. At a time when there are many aggressive and nationalistic street occupations in London related to the Brexit Crisis, it is powerful for the PUNK WITCH to occupy the street peacefully and in the spirit of fun with the other female artists participating in the exhibition. PUNK WITCH uses the megaphone as her instrument to emphasise her purpose to protest. It is also important to the PUNK WITCH to occupy the site of a former church as a witch, because in the past she would have been hounded and persecuted by the Church and the State.

‘Party At The End Of The World – Feat.PONY©
Intervention at Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre, 30.01.2018
A strange character who could belong in a old time dime museum or freak show, PONY© walks the neon interior of the condemned Shopping Centre at Elephant and Castle. Confused by the gentrification going on around her, and fearing the loss of her habitat, she carries a giant party inviation – a fluorecent pink placard inviting others to her party: ‘Party at the end of the World – feat.PONY©’. Documentary photographs by Joel Simon.
‘Transposition: Punk Party’
Intervention on The kings Road Chelsea, 15th November 2017
This intervention performance was a transposition: inspired by Dick Scott Stewart’s iconic photograph of the Kings Road punk scene ‘Punks On The Kings Road, 1981’. The punks would hang out outisde Safeways daily – it was an important part of my childhood obsevring them – and my Brother and I would request that we walk ‘the punk way’ to the supermarket with our Mother. Actually a detour, because she didn’t really like shopping in Safeways… I was deeply disturbed by the gentrification of Walkers Court, Berwick Street, and it focussed my mind on the gentrifcation of Chelsea some years before, and the loss of the Punk Scene from the Kings Road. I re-staged the photograph on the site on which it was taken – as far as I could – the exact place where the punks stood is now occupied by Macdonalds bins. I also re-created one of the punks in the photographs in 2d. and performed with him as my boyfriend. I have since used the documentary photographs of my performance in my Gentrification Graveyard and my Punk Art installations at gigs. My boyfriend has also re-appeared. I recently met a bloke at a gig who told me that he had passed. I would be grateful for any more info from anybody who was on the Scene at that time…

‘Lulu Goldman Deceased Performs Live In The Mortuary!’
Hundred Years Gallery, 06.04.2017
Performed at Hundred Years Gallery as part of ‘Salomania’, a joint exhibition with the painter Julia Colmenares, from 31st March – 9th April 2017. These documentary photos were taken on 06.04.2017 when the performance formed part of The Whitechapel Gallery’s First Thursdays Bus Tour. In this performance I reprise my long running persona: the dead prostitute and failed Bunny Girl Lulu Goldman Deceased. I have been performing as Lulu since 2014. The large images were taken by Liam Taylor, and the smaller images by Montse Gallego at Hundred Years Gallery.
‘Blake The Dog’
Intervention on The Kings Road, Chelsea 05.12.2016
A glamorously dressed woman walks a cardboard dog along the Kings Road, Chelsea, on a winter’s morning; he is her lover…
With this performance staged as an intervention I examine how an individual might feel or be naturally aliented from mainstream society, and social norms. It was also inspired by Audiovisual Media Services Regulations – ammendments to the 2003 Communications Act – which banned the depiction of – amongst other things – female ejaculation in VoD online pornography…
Documentary photographs of the performance were taken by Tom Branwell.
‘Lulu Goldman Deceased: A Disturbing Case’
The Last Breath @ The Clearlake Hotel
04.12.2014
This was a durational site specific 5 hour live performance at The Clearlake Hotel, Kensington in which I was first possessed by and took on the identity of Lulu Goldman Deceased, prostitute and failed Bunny Girl; tragically murdered in 1970 by Mr Cropper and still haunting Chelsea with my co-operation and assistance…
I created the work using live performance, automatic drawings, installed objects and audio.
It was curated by the For One Night Only Collective, and other artists included The Chapman Brothers, and was inspired by the original television series ‘Randall and Hopkirk Deceased’ as well as waifs and strays resident at The Clearlake Hotel since the 1970s …
The title of the performance is inspired by one of the episodes of ‘Randall and Hopkirk Deceased’ as are some of the titles of the drawings. Pictured here is ‘Potty Mouth’ installed on the loo with some ghost hair…
